Contignano

A live Nativity scene

Una scena del Presepe Vivente

To play the part of baby Jesus, according to tradition, is the youngest child of the country, along with his parents and little angels, played by children slightly older.

Every year the village of Contignano lights up with torches and candles for the evocative representation of the Living Nativity: an event very much felt by all the villagers who wear the clothes of shepherds, blacksmiths and peasants to stage all the trades of the era of the Nativity. You will find blacksmiths forging iron, shoemakers, censors, scribes and of course the Three Kings and the Holy Family.

A magical atmosphere accompanied by sacred music and Christmas carols where you can walk and smile in front of the joy and amazement of children, taste typical products and maybe warm up drinking a glass of hot mulled wine. The Living Crib of Contignano is set up every year during Christmas and Epiphany.
